NASCAR Modifieds – Richie Evans

1980 Dog-Leg 200 – Trenton, NJ  (91 minutes)
One of the very few existing pre-1981 TV recordings of an entire NASCAR Modified race, this is from the famous Trenton,
New Jersey raceway, famous for its dogleg right turn down the back straight. This would be the last race ever held at
Trenton International Raceway, a track that had hosted Modified Sportsman races for years, as well as USAC (IndyCar)
and NASCAR Winston Cup races. The all-star Modified field consisted of Richie Evans, Maynard Troyer, Brett Bodine,
Geoff Bodine (who set a track record of 146.532 mph in qualifying), and many others. The commentators were well aware
that this may be the final race at the famous New Jersey raceway (and it was), and the grandstands were packed with loyal
fans. This is the complete race, from start to finish (although cut short due to rain), and includes pre-race and post-race
coverage as well as some pit interviews. The footage is from an old VHS source tape and is a little grainy, but is indeed
very watchable. This is an original, unedited ESPN broadcast (master edit).

Richie Evans Biography   (45 minutes)
An excellent biography of the legendary Richie Evans, 9-time NASCAR Modified Champion, for his induction into the
NASCAR Hall Of Fame In 2012. Comments from fellow race drivers, family members, and many others, pay tribute to the
greatest NASCAR Modified driver in history. As Tony Stewart states, “He was what Dale Earnhardt and Richard Petty are
to the Cup Series, that’s what Richie was to Modifieds.” A truly excellent documentary, shown in letterbox format.
