1950’s – Slippin’ And A Slidin’ (Vol 3)

Slippin’ And A Slidin’ (Vol 3)

1-DVD (118 minutes)

1953 Southern 500 – (10 min)
An excellent, color film from Darlington, South Carolina. (color)

1957 Daytona Beach, FL – (26 min)
Clear, color footage from Daytona Beach! This film was produced by Pontiac Motor Division, and they
focus on their winning driver, Cotton Owens, driving a new 1957 Pontiac of course. This long film starts
with a low-level flyover by the USAF Thunderbirds, and the title of the film is “Sand Barrier” in reference
to the “sound barrier”, as this film compares those NASCAR drivers to jet pilots. An excellent film! (color)

Lee Petty – Hall Of Fame Biography – (43 min)
From Speed Channel, this is an excellent biography of Lee Petty, in high quality letterbox screen format.
Originally recorded off TV, all the commercials have been edited out. Lee Petty was a driving force in
the early days of NASCAR, and was inducted into the NASCAR Hall Of Fame in 2011. (color)

Golden Era Of NASCAR – 1950-1959 – (38 min)
From the excellent multi-part documentary on NASCAR, this segment is just on the 1950-1959 era
as it pertains to our “Slippin’ And A Slidin” DVD series. A great documentary with many comments
from drivers of this era, and a lot of original footage. (color)
