1989 Seafair Nationals – Seattle, WA (47 min)
A great race from 1989! Joe Amato takes the Top Fuel victory in an unpainted car (to save weight) that still wears his
usual TRW sponsorship. As drag fans know, Amato became famous driving a beautiful ruby red Top Fueler, and he
experimented with this unpainted car before picking up a Valvoline sponsorship (with a blue and white paint scheme) for
1990. In Pro Stock, the quickest car in the field was Bruce Allen’s Chevrolet, but the surprise victory went to Warren
Johnson in his AC-Delco Oldsmobile Cutlass. In Funny Car, Bruce Larson defeats Kenny Bernstein.
1989 Fallnationals – Phoenix, AZ (62 min)
A significant race in Shirley Muldowney’s career. After her near fatal accident in 1984, and her return in 1986, Shirley
went winless until this race in 1989 (sadly, this was also her last win). She defeats Darrell Gwynn in the final round,
beating Gwynn with a holeshot. In Funny Car, Bruce Larson takes the victory over Don Prudhomme (Skoal Bandit). In Pro
Stock, Darrell Alderman in his Dodge Daytona defeats Bob Glidden.
1989 Rock N’ Racing (30 min)
Simply stunning cinematography and sound for its time, this rare video covers various Top Fuel, Funny
Car, etc. from what appears to be an IHRA event. There is no commentary in this video, just ground-
pounding drag cars, and the occasional 1989 era rock music soundtrack. This one is great to crank up!
