1977 Spanish Grand Prix

1-DVD (107 Minutes)

The complete 1977 Spanish Grand Prix with German commentary.

The first European race of the year (race #5 on the schedule) had a full field of 31 cars (only 22 cars
started the previous race in Long Beach, CA). Mario Andretti took pole position in the John Player Special
Lotus, with Jacques Laffite 2nd in the Ligier, followed by the Ferrari Team of Carlos Reutemann and Niki
Lauda. Jody Scheckter in the Wolf was 5th, followed by John Watson and James Hunt. Both Tyrrell P34
Six-Wheelers were in attendance, struggling in their final year before Ken Tyrrell abandoned the P34
Project for a more conventional layout in 1978. Although Niki Lauda qualified 3rd, he would not start this
race. During warm-ups, he refractured a rib that he had broken in an accident at Nurburgring last year.

Mario Andretti would dominate this race from start to finish. Commentary is in German, the footage is quite
good, and a real treat for fans of the John Player Special Lotus 78.
