This is the complete race as broadcast on LIVE TV.

In qualifying, pole went to Nelson Piquet in his Brabham-BMW, Keke Rosberg was second in his
Williams-Honda, World Championship leader Alain Prost was third, and Ayrton Senna fourth in his
Lotus-Renault. Back in the 10th position was Niki Lauda. On the warm up lap, Patrick Tambay’s
Renault suffered a suspension failure, so he had to start from the pitlane.

At the start of the race, Piquet stalled, but everyone managed to get by. Rosberg took the lead with Senna
and Fabi behind him, while Prost lost a little time dodging around Piquet, and so dropped to fourth. Prost
quickly repassed Fabi and he was followed by Lauda. Fabi soon went off the road and bounced through the
sand. He blamed a loose rear wheel. On the 19th lap Rosberg blew an engine, handing the lead to Ayrton
Senna, followed by Prost and Lauda. As the leaders pitted, Prost had a problem with one tire and lost a lot
of time, Lauda managed to get out ahead of Senna, and 12 seconds back was Prost. Eventually, Prost caught
and passed Senna on lap 48. For the last few laps Lauda and Prost ran nose-to-tail. They finished just 0.232
seconds apart. Third place also featured a battle with the down-on-power Senna trying to hold off
Alboreto. The two cars hit on the final lap but both made it to the flag.

Clear footage and excellent coverage, with Murray Walker and James Hunt on commentary.
