|1984 Austrian Grand Prix - Complete Race
|1-DVD : 129 min. Quality : Excellent
|This is the complete race as broadcast on live TV.
|Nelson Piquet captured the pole in his Brabham-BMW with Alain Prost (McLaren-TAG) second,
with Elio de Angelis (third) and Niki Lauda (fourth) in the second row.
At the start, Piquet took the lead from Prost. Lauda made a poor start but was soon back to fourth place.
After 2 laps, the race was red-flagged and then restarted. On lap 29, Prost spun off on oil dropped by
Elio de Angelis's Renault. Lauda was second and Senna fourth. This lasted only a few laps before Tambay
overtook Senna, who soon went into the pits with an engine failure. Lauda closed up on Piquet and on lap
40 took the lead while lapping the Ferrari of Michele Alboreto. Patrick Tambay's third place position
lasted only until lap 43 when his engine blew up, handing the position to the lapped Alboreto.
Niki Lauda would take the win, with Nelson Piquet second, and Alboreto third.
This is the full race, including the long delay after lap 2 when the race was red-flagged and then
restarted. Lots of footage of the drivers waiting around for the race to restart. This is an original BBC
broadcast, shown on Austrian TV, the commentary is by Murray Walker and James Hunt, but during the
delay, a segment during the race, and some of the post-race, the commentary is in German. Niki Lauda
gives an interview in German as well as English in the post race.
Good clear footage of this race from the long lost Österreichring circuit.
