|1976 Monaco Grand Prix - Complete Race
|Qualifying resulted in the usual site of Ferrari being 1-2, with Niki Lauda ahead of Clay Regazzoni. Ronnie Peterson
was on the second row in his March, while the controversial Tyrrell P34 6-wheelers of Patrick Depailler and Jody
Scheckter qualified 4th and 5th. The always colorful James Hunt, who would be battling Lauda for the championship,
qualified a poor 13th in his McLaren due to gearbox troubles.
At the start Lauda went into the lead but it was Peterson who grabbed second from Regazzoni. Carlos Reutemann
collided with Alan Jones's Surtees and both cars retired. The only change at the front in the early laps came on lap 15
when Jody Scheckter wheeled his Tyrrell P34 6-wheeler past his teammate Patrick Depailler's 6-wheeler. James
Hunt suffered an engine failure but not before oiling down the track. Regazzoni went up an escape road and dropped
behind the two Tyrrells, and a lap later Ronnie Peterson spun on the oil and hit the barrier. Niki Lauda takes the win in
his Ferrari F312T2 ahead of the two Tyrrell P34 6-wheelers.
Lots of great footage in this one! All you hear are Cosworth and Ferrari engines screaming
away, and a lot of great shots of the Tyrrell P34 6-wheelers in their prime.
